RESEARCH ASSOCIATE I
Health Outcomes

Blood Systems Research Institute (BSRI) an affiliate of the University of California in San Francisco, CA seeks applicants to fill a new full-time Research Associate position. The candidate will need to possess knowledge of the goals and objectives of health outcomes research. Familiarity with literature searches using scientific databases required. A working knowledge of blood donation practices or training in infectious disease epidemiology research is ideal.  Familiarity with health economics modeling desired. Previous experience with decision analysis using programs such as TreeAge (Healthcare Version) is preferred. Previous experience in health economics or policy research is preferred.

HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST
(Part-time, 24 hours/week)

Blood Systems Research Institute (BSRI) in San Francisco is a UCSF affiliated research institute dedicated to the science of transfusion medicine (www.bsrisf.org) seeks to fill a part-time (24 hour a week) Human Resources Generalist position.  The incumbent, under minimal supervision, will provide overall professional generalist HR support including, but not limited to:

  • Oversight of all employment activities, including recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and separation process.

  • Oversee, coordinate, and monitor quality control of HR-related transactions and records.

  • Manage employee relations with input to management as appropriate.

  • Disseminate and communicate HR-related policies and procedures to managers and staff.

  • Respond to inquiries and assist in resolving HR, payroll, visa, and benefit-related questions.

  • Understand and apply federal and state employment law.

  • Coordinate and monitor timely and accurate entry of HR-related data.

  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of BSRI benefit plans and overseeing the processing of benefit changes and annual open enrollment.

  • Train and coach managers and staff performing HR-related functions.

  • Coordinate the postdoctoral appointment process.

  • Track and process employee visas.

  • Coordinate and track employee leaves.

  • Oversee compensation and salary administration.

  • Serve as HR liaison with Corporate administrative offices and university affiliates.

The successful applicant will have knowledge of HR regulations (i.e., WC, FMLA, AAP, Unemployment Compensation, etc.) practices and techniques, attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with at least 2 years’ HR experience is required.

  • Knowledge of HR regulations, practices and techniques.

  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work flexible hours.

  • Good judgment and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to stay current with changing policies, laws, and regulations.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others

  • Ability to manage conflict situations effectively
